These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Alt, including our website, web app, group chat integrations, bots, AI agents, image generation features, and related services (collectively, the "Service").
These Terms are between you and Alt ("we," "us," or "our").
By accessing or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
You must be at least 18 years old to use Alt. Alt is currently a United States alpha service, operated from the United States and directed at users in the United States.
You may not use Alt if you are barred from using the Service under applicable law or if we previously suspended or terminated your access.
Alt is an AI agent and image generation service that lets users chat with Alt and create AI-generated images, including images based on a user's own likeness and the likenesses of other consenting users in shared groups, drops, workspaces, servers, channels, or chats.
Alt may be available through our website, first-party web experiences, Slack, Discord, and other third-party platforms.
Alt is currently in alpha. The Service may change, break, become unavailable, produce unexpected results, or be discontinued at any time. We may add, remove, limit, or modify features during the alpha.
You are responsible for your account and for activity associated with your account or access credentials. You agree to provide accurate information and to keep your login credentials secure.
You may not share your account in a way that lets another person impersonate you or misuse your likeness.
Alt may integrate with third-party platforms such as Slack, Discord, and other chat, community, or workplace tools. Your use of those platforms is governed by their own terms, privacy policies, developer policies, and permissions.
When Alt is added to a third-party platform, the server, workspace, channel, or group administrator or another authorized person is responsible for obtaining any required permissions and making any required disclosures to members of that space.
You may not use Alt to collect, export, scrape, monitor, or train models on Slack, Discord, or other third-party platform content except as permitted by those platforms, these Terms, and applicable law.
"Input" means content you provide to Alt, including reference photos, prompts, messages, commands, uploads, and other materials.
"Output" means AI-generated images, text, or other content generated through Alt in response to Input.
As between you and Alt, you retain any rights you have in your Input. Subject to your compliance with these Terms, Alt does not claim ownership of your Output, to the extent ownership is available under applicable law.
You are responsible for your Input, your use of Output, and any sharing of Output. You represent and warrant that you have all rights, licenses, permissions, and consents needed to provide Input to Alt and to use Output as you use it.
You grant Alt a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, process, transmit, display, modify, and use your Input and Output as necessary to provide, operate, secure, debug, improve, and enforce the Service and our policies.
For reference photos and likeness materials, this license is limited to providing Alt's likeness-based features, operating and securing the Service, responding to support and deletion requests, enforcing our policies, and complying with law.
This license ends when your content is deleted from our active systems, except that we may retain limited information as described in our Privacy Policy.
Alt's likeness features rely on trust and consent.
You may only upload reference photos or likeness materials of yourself. You may not upload photos or likeness materials of another person unless we expressly allow it and you have all required rights and permissions.
By adding your likeness to a group, drop, workspace, server, channel, or chat where Alt is used, you give Alt permission to process your likeness to provide the Service, and you give other authorized members of that shared space permission to create AI-generated images using your likeness within Alt, subject to these Terms and our Content & Likeness Policy.
You may revoke future permission to use your likeness by contacting help@alternate.app or by using any in-product deletion tools we provide. If you remove your likeness, generated images using your likeness will be deleted from our servers, unless limited retention is required or permitted for legal, security, compliance, or abuse-prevention reasons.
You may not use another person's likeness to harass, shame, threaten, defame, sexualize, impersonate, deceive, or otherwise harm them.
Alt's likeness features depend on accurate identity and consent. If a person claims that a likeness, profile, reference photo set, or generated content depicts them, we may investigate the claim and take any action we reasonably believe is appropriate.
Such actions may include removing content, disabling access, restricting use of a likeness, requiring additional verification, or permanently deleting associated content.
If we reasonably determine that a likeness was uploaded or used without the depicted person's authorization, we may remove the likeness and any associated generated content.
Our decisions regarding likeness authorization, account control, identity claims, and related content actions are final unless otherwise required by law. This section operates alongside our Moderation and Enforcement rights described below.
You are responsible for how you use and share generated images.
You may not share generated images depicting another person outside Alt without that person's consent. You may not represent AI-generated images as real photographs or use them to mislead people about what someone actually did, said, wore, endorsed, or experienced.
You may not use Alt, Output, user content, group chat messages, platform data, or other Service data to build, train, fine-tune, or improve machine learning or AI models, except with our prior written permission and all permissions required by applicable platforms, providers, users, and law.
You agree not to use Alt to:
We may review, remove, restrict, or disable access to content, likenesses, generations, accounts, groups, or integrations that we believe violate these Terms, our Privacy Policy, law, platform requirements, or the rights or safety of others.
We may suspend or terminate access to the Service at any time, for any reason or no reason, at our sole discretion, including for violations, suspected abuse, legal risk, security risk, or platform compliance reasons.
Reports involving non-consensual intimate imagery, unauthorized likeness use, or other content removal requests may be submitted through our reporting process at alternate.app/report or by contacting help@alternate.app.
We may remove, disable, restrict, or preserve content as required by law, including in response to reports involving non-consensual intimate imagery, child safety concerns, fraud, harassment, impersonation, or other safety and legal issues.
Alt uses third-party AI, hosting, storage, infrastructure, and platform providers. These may include OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Google Cloud / Vertex AI, Black Forest Labs, Replicate, Fal, Modal, Supabase, Slack, Discord, and others.
We are not responsible for third-party services, platforms, models, APIs, outages, policies, or content. Your use of third-party platforms may be subject to their terms and policies.
AI-generated output may be inaccurate, unexpected, offensive, incomplete, or similar to output generated for other users. You should not rely on Output as factual, professional, legal, medical, financial, or other expert advice.
You are responsible for reviewing Output before using or sharing it.
We and our licensors own the Service, including the software, design, templates, prompts, systems, workflows, brand, logos, trade names, and other technology or content we provide, excluding your Input and any Output rights assigned to you under these Terms.
You may not copy, modify, distribute, reverse engineer, or create derivative works of the Service except as allowed by these Terms or applicable law.
If you give us feedback, ideas, suggestions, or improvements, you grant us permission to use them without restriction or compensation to you.
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE." TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, STATUTORY, OR OTHERWISE, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE ACCURATE, SAFE, ERROR-FREE, SECURE, AVAILABLE, OR UNINTERRUPTED, OR THAT OUTPUT WILL MEET YOUR EXPECTATIONS.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, ALT AND ITS AFFILIATES, OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AGENTS, SERVICE PROVIDERS, AND LICENSORS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST PROFITS, LOST DATA, LOSS OF GOODWILL, OR BUSINESS INTERRUPTION.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATING TO THE SERVICE OR THESE TERMS WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF: (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US TO USE THE SERVICE IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM AROSE; OR (B) $100.
To the extent permitted by law, you agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Alt and its affiliates, officers, directors, employees, agents, service providers, and licensors from and against claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses, including reasonable attorneys' fees, arising from or related to your use of the Service, your Input, your Output, your violation of these Terms, your violation of law, or your violation of another person's rights.
You may stop using Alt at any time. You may request deletion of your account or likeness by contacting help@alternate.app.
We may suspend or terminate your access to Alt at any time, for any reason or no reason, at our sole discretion, including if we believe you violated these Terms, created legal or safety risk, violated third-party platform requirements, or otherwise misused the Service.
We may update the Service and these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will provide notice as required by law or through the Service. Updated Terms are effective when posted unless otherwise stated.
Your continued use of the Service after updated Terms take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to conflict of laws principles.
